More Hospitals Leap into Employer Group's Survey
Jul 18, 2013, UPDATED: Jul 19, 2013
John George, Senior Reporter, Philadelphia Business Journal

A least a dozen area hospitals will be reporting performance data to the Leapfrog Group this year, a number which pleases Neil Goldfarb. Goldfarb helped establish, and serves as executive director of, the Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health. The coalition serves as a regional roll-out of the Leapfrog Group. The regional roll-outs are groups of business coalitions across the country that ask, on behalf of their employer members, local hospitals to participate in the national Leapfrog hospital survey. The Leapfrog Group is a voluntary program that began in 1998 aimed at mobilizing employer purchasing power to improve the quality and affordability of health care. [Goldfarb] noted in the past hardly any of the area’s medical centers have participated in the Leapfrog Group’s surveys. “We hope it’s because nobody asked them,” he said. “Now we are asking.”
